Our Story

edelweiss – since 1996

Experience your mountainside escape

A story rooted in Bavaria

Originally built as a workforce retreat, Haus Edelweiss has always been a quiet haven designed for rest and reflection.

It has now been reimagined by two families: one with deep roots in the region, the other enchanted by Oberstdorf. Together, they envisioned a place that feels welcoming to both longtime Allgäu devotees and travellers discovering the town for the first time.

Their aim was to create a space where you can set your own rhythm. Familiar comforts – kitchens, living areas, room to breathe – are paired with thoughtful, modern design that gently honours Bavarian heritage.

Everyone moves through the world differently.
So we create space for you to move at your own pace.

We invite you to make Haus Edelweiss your home. With well-designed kitchens, generous living areas, and quiet wellness spaces, everything you need is already here – while our team steps in only when you need a little extra support.

Our Promise

"Every welcome is personal, every stay is yours."

Exceptional design

Bavarian soul, modern form

Designed by Piotr Wiśniewski of Berlin-based weStudio, every material in Haus Edelweiss was chosen for its honesty and tactility. Solid oak, natural stone, wool, and linen come together to create spaces that feel grounded, warm, and quietly elevated.

These aren't decorative decisions. They're considered choices that honour craft, longevity, simplicity and functionality.

"This project is rooted in place, yet shaped by its wider context. The hotel's design is a modern interpretation of Bavarian identity—where local materials, subtle forms, and a palette inspired by the Allgäu landscape translate heritage into a contemporary spatial language."
